Lang was trained in live performance when he worked for a company just out of high school. It was the early 80's, the heyday of new wave, punk, and pop, and the company was called Showcase and produced bands that performed an average of 500 shows a year. He traveled with that company for 4 years performing approximately 2000 shows in the US, Canada and Australia.
Showcase was endorsed by the music instrument companies of Pearl drums, Gibson guitars, Lab Series amps, and Moog keyboards and provided real world feedback on the development of new products due to the rigorous touring schedules.
This was the training ground that gave him much of the experience he gained before moving to Nashville and playing professionally for major label recording artists which he's done for the past 30 years.
He's played, sung and shared the stage with artists such as Grammy and Dove award winners Michael W. Smith, Rich Mullins, and Michael McDonald to name a few.
His involvement in the Rock, Pop, Country and CCM music industries, has included work as a songwriter for BMG publishing, as an artist with BlissBliss signed to REX records (with labelmates Sixpence None the Richer), with BlissBliss bringing the label their first #1 and also as an independent record producer for numerous artists. For a period of 8 years, he worked as a Certified Live Music Producer with Tom Jackson Productions. His work included everyone from weekend warrior artists, to the Armed Services, to those who have sold millions of records and written numerous #1 hits, including The Tenors, Icon For Hire, Sidewalk Prophets, The Henningsens, Francesca Battistelli, Russ Taff, Wayne Watson, Clay Crosse, Jason Castro, Fairview Union, and many others.
